Visualization is an incredible and highly effective practice that would allow you to harness the power of the Law of Attraction.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Are you on your desired career track? How do you imagine your future partner to be like? We often find ourselves unknowingly reflecting on these questions, our thoughts drifting to them whenever we’re bored at work or right as we’re about to fall asleep.
Now, many of you may refer to this practice as daydreaming, however, the more scientific term would be visual imagery meditation.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, visualization is “the act of visualizing something or someone,” which basically means forming pictures and images in your mind. Think of it as having a camera in your mind that films all your thoughts and deepest desires, and then allows you to watch them all over again.
Research suggests that visualization plays a key role in the manifestation of your goals, helping you direct your efforts into achieving them. Many different industries are increasingly making use of visual imagery to reach their objectives.
For instance, several coaches now require their athletes and sports teams to spend a few minutes practicing both visualization and meditation before each game, claiming that this increases their concentration levels and allows them to get into a better headspace.
Additionally, many CEOs and company executives also tout visual imagery meditation, saying that incorporating this into your morning routine sets you up for success for the rest of the day. If those working to keep Fortune 500 companies thriving believe in this practice, then why shouldn’t you too?
However, visualization is rather tricky because it’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on images that have nothing to do with your goals and aspirations. This is why it needs to be integrated and combined with meditation.
But how exactly do you go about visual imagery meditation? Well, let’s break it down into four easy steps.
What Do You Mean By Visual Imagery Meditation?
Understandably, you may still be a bit confused as to what visual imagery meditation actually entails so before we get into the nitty-gritty of it, let’s explore this fascinating concept first.
Visual imagery meditation is, at its core, imagining yourself to be a part of scenarios that your mind conjures. It demands you to engage all five senses to be able to create realistic images or situations that you either associate with your goal or will lead you towards it.
Incorporating this into your daily routine allows you to harness and maximize the power of the Law of Attraction. That sounds extremely appealing, right?
Now that we’ve gone through the basics of visual imagery meditation, let’s dive into the various steps that it involves.
Step One: Know What You Want
A successful visual imagery meditation session first requires knowing exactly what you want in your life. Are your goals clear and definite? Do you know what you’re aspiring to achieve?
If your answers to these questions are in the negative, then spend some time reflecting on them. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, as long as you come away from it with a realistic, specific, and unambiguous goal in mind.
Step Two: Prepare For Meditation
Once you’re certain that you know what you want, you can move onto the process of manifestation. Take a few minutes preparing yourself for the upcoming session; make sure you’re comfortable, well-rested, and not in a hurry. Going into meditation with a peaceful and stable mind will help make the session deeper and even more profound.
Find a quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed for the next 15 minutes. And, don’t forget to wear loose or comfortable clothing.
Step Three: Meditating
Meditation mostly involves a series of breathing patterns that will leave you feeling calm and relaxed. Here’s a tip: inhale deeply, allowing your abdomen to expand outward, and exhale deeply, allowing your stomach to sink while keeping your chest still. This exercise ensures that you’re going into this meditation session feeling tranquil and at ease.
Now, picture your future as vividly as you can. Visualize your desired career; if you want to become a CEO of a successful company, then imagine yourself at a meeting with your other executives or holding a press conference. What about the holiday trips you want to take? The children you want to have? The things that you want to accomplish? Imagine all this and more.
Keep in mind that your visualization needs to be as specific as possible. Don’t be afraid to add even the tiniest of details; the colors of the clothes you’re wearing, the location of your dream house, and even the wood that your kitchen cupboards are made of – all this will help make your visual images more profound.
The Law of Attraction is another reason why visualization needs to be extremely specific. The Law of Attraction basically states that like attracts like, which means that whatever images your visualization session will conjure will be returned back to you by the universe. For instance, if your practice of visualization ends with a clear concept of you becoming the Head of Operations in eight years, then the Law of Attraction will undoubtedly make it happen.
Step Four: Conclude the Meditation
As much as we want it to, visual imagery meditation can’t last forever. Be aware that your session is ending soon so you can come out of it gradually and without hurry. Take a few minutes to transition slowly from the meditative state to the conscious state.
Then, shift your focus from inward to outward, gently paying more attention to your surroundings. Move your upper body gently – head, neck, shoulders – twist your body slightly from left to right.
And then, open your eyes.
Make It A Part Of Your Daily Routine
Visual imagery meditation occupies an important place in our lives, which is why you should incorporate it into your daily routine. You must maintain this practice until you achieve your desired goals.
Visualization may be a powerful manifestation tool, however, it often takes a while to work. Don’t lose patience if you sense yourself not making any progress. Instead, stick to it and you’ll find yourself noticing more dramatic changes as time goes on.
Gradually, you’ll witness your imagination take shape in your reality.
